The consensus seems to be that we are to use Sentry drones, remain stationary so we can insta-scoop them if needed and to hell with the new players trying to use drones. Do I have this right?
I sure hope I have this wrong because I don't see a drone boat as being a stationary brick during the fighting, nor do I see the sense in trying to drive away new players.
Then again, nothing about this entire AI change makes sense to me. A needless change made to solve a problem that was not addressed by the solution and only bandaids on the problem which have the effect of nullifying most of the original change. How exactly do I get a complaint to the person at CCP responsible for this fiasco? Rather than agro at a GM who has no authority, I want to know how to get a complaint to the right person!
This smacks more and more of the same type of egotistical "don't listen to complaints" that led up to the infamous apology to the customers a couple of years ago! |

Lysa D wrote:CCP didn't nerf drones. All they did was add a teeny weeny challenge in using drones. If that bump in the road is too much for you, there are plenty of games that require no challenge or use of brain cells.
There are also games that are more fun.
Eve had been fun for me. Then the changes began and the fun went downhill. The skill points I invested in T2 drones will not be refunded so I can learn another weapon system. The drone problems get bandaids, but no solutions. And the developers refuse to say anything about what the bloody hell they're going to do about the mess!
As someone else said earlier in the thread, I'm waiting for the month subscription to expire and then I'm gone. By then I'll have decided which game to migrate to. |

Actually I'm feeling a wee bit more pessimistic about it. The track record is consistant in that CCP does not "fix" issues unless they see actual decrease in subscription rates. And given that few people rely heavily on drones, I just don't see it as happening.
Most people will simply give up and switch to another weapon focus. A few people will give up and drop subscriptions. Most will complain until they have a bigger CCP generated headache to focus on, at which time they'll stop complaining about drones.
Will CCP fix the drone problem? Unless a developer is a serious drone user, I just don't see it as happening beyond the bandaids they've already installed. And given the fact that developers can wave a magic wand to instantly learn any weapon skills they want, I don't think we'll see a developer generated fix.
Drones are a weak immitation of a weapon system at this point and will most likely remain that way. Useful to some degree by new players - until they learn to skill a better weapon system. That's the long and the short of it, along with the reason why I will not be renewing my subscription.
I've a couple of weeks left on the main (with the drone skills) and a couple of months left on the alt (Power of Two). If things don't get fixed by the time the alt expires, I'll be into another game and won't bother coming back. Eve got what money I'm willing to give to them, won't be any more coming. |

I've been saying that same thing since before the release making the change. Darned if I can figure out CCP.
And the most amazing thing is that this isn't the first time they've flubbed up by not listening to their customers. Awhile back when they released the Captains Quarters and started trying to sell items in their online store for extremely inflated prices, they lost so many customers that the head of CCP had to make a public apology. And there have been other examples of their flubs.
This time they released Retribution and immediately started cutting new patches to tone it down, further and further. Now it's been mostly nullified but it's still painful as hell for drone boats.
As I've said previously, my accounts will be shutdown very soon. Just about 12 days left on my main account and the Power of Two account will be shutdown as soon as it runs out. I'm tired of doing business with a company that pays no attention to customer wishes and does as they bloody well please! |

I'm tired of doing business with a company that pays no attention to customer wishes and does as they bloody well please! Modifying the difficulty of some gameplay feature will always attracts such threats. But they are inevitable if CCP are going to push the game to a better future. Keep going CCP, if you have your plan already, you know how these changes will benefit the long term goals.
Let's put it into another context and see if you can understand.
You love Chevy and have bought nothing but Chevy all your life. But one day they get a new CEO who decides Chey is going to build environmentally friendy cars and to heck with what the customers want! So they switch over and build only electric cars that can do a maximum of 55 mph. You decide to hell with them since they don't make a car you'd be willing to drive!
Same identical thing. You've dwelt with a company, you like their products, but one day they stop listening to customers and decide what the customer needs is more important than what they want. So, you vote with your feet and stop buying their products.
This is a sandbox that you are free to play any way you want - right? Well, someone forgot to tell CCP that detail. They've decided that after giving you a weapon system that works a certain way, you're now to scrap your time investment and go to a different weapon system. Whether that is stationary sentry drones or missiles, makes no difference. CCP knows best as to what you need! So nothing but 55 mph electric cars for you! (Hear the sound of feet marching into the distance?) |

The better future for the game is an overall concept, does not necessary to include every individual currently in the game.
Because some day you're going to be just as angry about some decision CCP makes that affects your game style. When that day comes you'll be screaming and someone else will say...
